Below is a letter from Dexter Liu to all supporters of the Second Amendment. Dexter has called for a rally on Thursday June 27th at 3:00pm. Be there to support your second amendment rights!
Fellow Defenders of the 2nd Amendment:
You may already know, but the House Judiciary Committee posted 3 bills: H5286, H5991, H5992, matching the 3 bills posted by the Senate Judiciary Committee: S455, S860, S862.
Monday the House Judiciary Committee will vote to bring them to the floor and Tuesday the Senate side will do likewise.
It may, however, not be the best use of our time to rally Monday or Tuesday since we believe this is already a done deal that these 3 bills will be voted on Thursday! (But use your own discretion…)
Thursday will be the day we need as many people as we can rally to be in the gallery when they vote!
Although the bills posted contain the old language it doesn’t mean they will not be amended when they will be voted on.
We need to watch the process closely to ensure the bills in their final form will include the amendments that were agreed upon.
That said, however, we cannot assume anything and must keep the pressure on albeit politely but relentlessly!
Please continue to call-email the leadership, the Speaker’s office, and remind committee members where we stand.
We do not accept the bills in their current form as there remain flaws that could risk criminalizing innocent gun owner.
We need to remind them that no bills should pass that violate the rights of lawful citizens.
The votes should happen on Thursday 6/27/13 (in the unlikely event that changes we will send out alerts)
THIS IS IT! ONE LAST RALLY! ARRIVE AT THE STATE HOUSE AT 3:00PM
PLEASE BE IN THE GALLERY ON THURSDAY WHEN THEY VOTE!
WE MUST HAVE A STRONG PRO-2ND AMENDMENT PRESENCE WHEN THEY CAST THEIR VOTES!
IT MAY BE A LONG NIGHT SO COME PREPARED (FOOD & DRINKS)
Regarding Monday when the House Judiciary meets, it was advised that perhaps it’s not useful to show up unless you have the time, because there will be no GA session and no public hearing.
Tuesday for the Senate Judiciary Committee, the GA will be in session but here too use your discretion. It may just be time better spent on Thursday when they actually vote.
If anyone else have more to add please chime it.
